Tarawera Medical Centre was established in 1989 and is situated in the heart of Kawerau, providing general medical support to over 4500 enrolled patients. Tarawera Medical Centre plays a pivotal role in supporting the Kawerau hāpori with health and wellbeing.

As of March 2024, Tarawera Medical Centre was purchased by Te Puna Manawa o Tarawera LP, a joint partnership between Ngāti Tūwharetoa BOP Settlement Trust, Green Cross Health, and Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua.

Our team at Tarawera Medical Centre is committed to addressing health inequities by providing our whānau with accessible health services. We strive towards providing Manaakitanga; to look after or care for our patients and our community that we serve each day, this underpins all that we do.

You will join a team of highly skilled Medical Practitioners who utilise a holistic approach to provide support for our patients. Your scope of practice will include triaging whānau, providing patient interventions and treatment plans, and also general nursing care and support.

Nga pūkenga me whai I Your skills and experience

So you can hit the ground running, we’d hope you have most of the following skills:

• Has experience working as a Practice Nurse
• Is a fully authorised Vaccinator (preferred but not essential)
• Is Smear Taker Certified (preferred but not essential)
• Working knowledge of Medtech32, or any other Practice Management System (preferred but not essential)
• The ability to engage meaningfully with whānau
• Practice cultural competency and cultural safety
• Knowledge and or willingness to learn Te Reo me ona tikanga

You will have the added benefit of working in our team of highly competent, mana-enhancing Nurses and GP’s. You can also expect to receive tautoko and support in your journey of professional development in terms of Te Reo me ona tikanga to enhance your day to day practice with patients and their whanau.
