School of Hard Knocks Comes to Whakatane

School of Hard Knocks will be based at Rugby Park starting July 2019.
We’ve all seen the programme on television, School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is coming to Whakatane! SOHK is a 20 week programme which starts in July 2019 that focuses on supporting rangatahi towards training and employment opportunities through a rugby and physical activity bootcamp. And if the pain and toil of the programme was not enough, it’s filmed—blood, sweat and tears—all to be shown on national television.
SOHK was pioneered by Sir John Kirwan
National rugby and rugby league players, as well as other sporting personalities, will contribute to the programme as ambassadors providing skills-based and motivational workshops. It will be based at Rugby Park, Whakatane. Te Puna Ora o Mataatua is proud to be a partner and will offer pastoral care services, based at the Rangatahi Hub in Kopeopeo, while the rangatahi are engaged in the programme. Te Wananga o Aotearoa will also provide classes to achieve certification in Health and Sports as well. Go to Tū Māia Rangatahi Hub to find out more.
