Te Puna Ora o Mataatua (TPOOM) has launched a dedicated medical subsidiary, Te Puna Ora o Rongoā Māori, trading as Te Whare o Rehua, to strengthen and streamline healthcare delivery for whānau.
What Does This Mean for Our Community?
Te Whare o Rehua will manage all medical services of Te Puna Ora o Mataatua, including:
- Rehua Medical
- Te Puna Ora o Mataatua’s interests in Tarawera Medical
- Rehua Nuku Ora Mobile Clinic
- Ngā Ringa Kōkōmuka | Rongoā Māori Clinics
This move ensures a sharper focus on clinical and rongoā services, improving accessibility, quality care, and client outcomes.
Leadership Announcement
We’re proud to announce Shelley Cunningham as Chief Executive of Te Whare o Rehua. Shelley has been part of TPOOM for nearly eight years, serving as Chief Financial Officer and then Deputy Chief Executive. She brings extensive experience and is a Chartered Accountant and holds an LLB and Bachelor of Management Studies (University of Waikato).
Shelley will step into her new role immediately and transition from Deputy CEO of Te Puna Ora o Mataatua next year.
Why This Change?
“The subsidiary will enable our services to be more streamlined and allow more efficient management of facilities and human resources—while maintaining strong integration with Te Puna Ora o Mataatua’s health and social wellbeing services,” says Shelley Cunningham.
Our Commitment to Whānau Ora
This change does not affect how clients access services. Our holistic Whānau Ora approach remains central to everything we do. It empowers families to take control of their lives and achieve better wellbeing, guided by our organisational framework, Te Poutokomanawa o Te Puna Ora o Mataatua.
