TPO Included in Tribunal Health Inquiry

Publication of Summary Table of all WAI 2575 (Stage 2) Claims.

Today the Presiding Officer, Judge S R Clark, agreed to include the claim filled by Te Puna Ora o Mataatua (WAI 2912) as part of Stage 2 of the Tribunals Health Inquiry (WAI 2575).

Our Statement of Claim identifies inequalities experienced by Māori providers delivering services in the Homebase Support Services Sector, particularly in the Bay of Plenty District Health Board region.

The Government needs to move away from baseline modelling to include equity adjustments such as cultural provision, clinical complexity, rurality and deprivation.

The start date of Stage 2 Hearings has yet to be set.

The first part of Stage 2 will focus on the Health and Disability Sector. To assist in understanding the range of inequities, we are publishing a Summary Table of Stage 2 Claims. It summarises each of 25 claims filed with their respective relief being sought.

Our WAI 2912 claim will build upon the Submission to the Māori Health Inequalities Inquiry we presented at the Māori Affairs Select Committee in 2019.
