We’re currently undertaking suicide prevention rangahau in the Mataatua rohe, showing the hononga between Maramataka Māori (the Māori Lunar Calendar System) and suicide statistics.
To facilitate this project, we will be hosting a series of consultation wānanga across the Mataatua region from August 2024 to April 2025.
Join us for our fourth event in this series at Te Kutaroa Marae, Matakana Island .

Time: 9:30am to 2:30pm
Venue: Kutaroa Marae, 123 Opureora Road, Matakana Island
7:15am – Arrive at Omokoroa boat ramp
9:00am – Depart from Omokoroa boat ramp to Matakana Island
10:00am – Arrive at Matakana Island and travel to Kutaroa Marae
10:30am – Powhiri at Kutaroa Marae
11:30am – Kapu Ti
12:00pm – Begin wananga with Karakia from Hau Kainga followed by Whakawhanaungatanga
12:30pm – Korero from Manuhiri (TPOOM) and Te Rina Ransfield
2:30pm – Lunch
3:00pm – Depart for barge and travel back to Omokoroa (Last barge travels back to Omokoroa at 3:30pm)
