Mānawa maiea te putanga o Matariki
Mānawa maiea te ariki o te rangi
Mānawa maiea Mātahi o te Tau e!

This significant annual celestial event celebrates the first rising of Matariki (Pleiades) star cluster and holds great cultural and spiritual importance in Aoteaora, as it marks the beginning of the Māori New Year. Matariki is a time of remembrance, celebrating the present and looking to the future.

In te ao Māori, the season is used to connect with our whenua (land), rangi (sky), and tipuna (ancestors).

Join us as we celebrate Matariki as a hapori.
