Te Puna Ora o Mataatua is the leading regional Māori health and wellbeing provider in the country. Established in 1991, Te Puna Ora o Mataatua delivers an integrated range of community health, general medical, homebased, and social services within the Mataatua rohe, mai ngā kuri a whārei ki Tihirau.

Here at the Hub, we work with Rangatahi to create their own customised plans, helping them to progress with their education, training, and employment aspirations. Supporting Rangatahi is our number one goal at the Hub, and our customised plans are a combination of different building blocks, designed to support youth development within Mataatua.

Our Rangatahi Hub Team are seeking an AOD Counsellor, to provide mental health and addiction support services to whānau in need. For this mahi, you will spearhead mental health and AOD programmes, initiatives and events within high schools and communities across the Mataatua Rohe. This role requires someone who is passionate and highly creative in terms of influencing change through providing education, coping mechanisms and alternative pathways.

He aha te tūnga | About the role

As our Rangatahi AOD Counsellor, you will assume a leadership role in mental health and AOD programs, initiatives, and events in high schools and communities across Mātaatua Rohe.

You will provide specialized counselling support to Rangatahi with addiction challenges and furthermore, manage your own caseload of clients.

You will operate across various sites, including Ngā Mata Wai Ora Counselling and therapy service based at McGarvey Road and our Rangatahi hub.

For this role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is registered to a professional body such as DAPAANZ or NZAC etc
  • Has experience organising and facilitating events and programmes
  • Is comfortable working with group settings
  • Can connect with whānau and Rangatahi
