Homebase Co-Ordinator – Tauranga | Full time Permanent

Ko wai mātou | About us

Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua is the leading regional Māori health and wellbeing provider in the country. Established in 1991, Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua delivers an integrated range of community health, general medical, homebased, and social services within the Mātaatua rohe, mai Ngā Kuri a Whārei ki Tihirau.

He aha te tūnga? | What is the role?

Our Homebased Support Service is our largest service, with over 500 support workers caring for whānau in their homes throughout the Mātaatua rohe. Our Coordinators are dedicated to their mahi, coordinating a caseload of support workers to ensure whānau receive the utmost quality support and care in the comfort of their own homes.

While most of our cares have typically been provided in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, we have recently picked up more clients in Tauranga Moana so we are now looking for someone with local knowledge to work from Tauranga. Initially, you will be based at home, but the medium to long-term plan is to establish an office in Tauranga.

This mahi includes recruiting support workers, coordinating cares, receiving client referrals, and ensuring our support workers are all paid accurately and on time. It includes home visits, so you will need to have reliable transportation, and you’ll be reimbursed for your expenses. We will also provide you with the necessary equipment and supports to set up a home office, but you will need to already have wifi and phone connectivity at home.

This is a super busy role, in an environment where no two days are the same – but the mahi is rewarding!

Ngā pūkenga me whai | Your skills and experience

For this mahi, we are looking for a genuinely caring person, who is the epitome of aroha ki te tangata. It would be great if you have a strong admin skillset and can pick up new systems fairly quickly, as the majority of your mahi will revolve around our payroll and scheduling systems.

Great communication is paramount for this mahi too, because you’ll need to be in constant liaison with your clients and support workers, as well as your team back at the office in Whakatane.

Te Poutokomanawa o Te Puna Ora is a framework that underpins everything we do at Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua, therefore a strong commitment to the principles outlined in the framework is vital.

We are a fast-moving organisation that respond to the everchanging needs of our hapori, so the ability to adapt to changes, thrive under pressure, and enjoy a challenge are important to us.

The Homebased team are a fun-loving, boisterous bunch, who all give 100% to their clients and support workers and even though you will be based in Tauranga, you will have many opportunities to travel to Whakatane to participate in team activities as well as greater organisational-wide kaupapa.

Nāku te rourou, nāu te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi

At Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua we are committed to developing our kaimahi with the majority of our workforce making good use of their professional development budgets. As well as offering pathways for career development, we have several opportunities to whakapiki wairua including social sports activities, instant access to leave, and many opportunities to add to your kete of matauranga in the areas of tikanga and te reo Māori.
