Practice Nurse | Full Time or Part Time – We’re flexible

Ko wai mātou? | About us

Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua is the leading regional Māori health and wellbeing provider in the country. Established in 1991, Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua delivers an integrated range of community health, general medical, home-based, and social services within the Mātaatua rohe.

Te tūnga | The role

Our team at Rehua Medical is committed to addressing health inequities by providing our whānau with accessible health and social services.

Although our team is based out of King Street, we are also mobile – taking our services out to the people with our mobile GP clinic, Rehua Nuku Ora, in the Mataatua rohe (and sometimes beyond).

As a practice nurse, your time will be split between two kaupapa. Most days you will be based at our new, purpose-built medical centre (Rehua Medical), and on some days you will have the opportunity to work from our new Mobile GP Unit (Rehua Nuku Ora), travelling within the Mātaatua rohe and beyond to support our whānau who live in those hard-to-reach areas.

You will join a team of highly skilled medical practitioners who apply a holistic approach to wraparound care and support for our patients. Your scope of practice will include triaging whānau before GP consultations, patient interventions, treatment, and nursing care and support.

Ngā pūkenga me whai | Your skills and experience

As a registered nurse, these are some of the skills you would bring with you:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Practice Nurse (Smear Taker certified preferred, but not essential)
  • Working knowledge of MedTech
  • The ability to engage meaningfully with our whānau
  • A strong affinity to te ao Māori.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a genuine passion for Māori Health.

You will also have the added benefit of working under our team of highly competent, mana-enhancing Nurses and GPs who will tautoko you in your journey of professional development.

Nāku te rourou, nāu te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.

If you’re passionate about our hāpori as much as we are, then we’d love to hear from you!

This is your opportunity to add real value in our community. And as a staff member, you will be well looked after as we recognise the value of our RNs.
