Mataatua hosts inaugural Nēhi Māori Wānanga

Ngā mihi nui ki ngā nēhi Māori ō Mataatua!

Last month we hosted He Wānanga mō ngā Nēhi Māori at Kokohinau Marae in Te Teko.

The wānanga was the first ever of its kind and brought together nēhi Māori from tauira, to registered nurses and Nurse Practitioners.

Those in attendance remarked about how the event was a way to:

  • inspire and foster whakawhanaungatanga among industry peers
  • share mātauranga on how to apply kaupapa Māori frameworks in a clinical setting
  • provide advice and insight on how to become a Māori Nurse Practitioner

Nei rā te reo o mihi te maioha atu nei ki te marae o Kokohinau, kia koutou katoa i tae mai; everyone who presented including local tauira, as well as local Māori Providers, Nurses and Nurse Practitioners.

Special mention to Dr Haturini McGarvey for co-hosting this event alongside Pareake O’Brien.
